Mzuzu Disability Organization to Launch Second Phase of Climate Inclusion Project on July 26, 2025

Mzuzu, Malawi — Mzuzu Disability Organization (MZUDO) is set to begin the second phase of its flagship project “Inclusion of Women and Girls with Disabilities in Climate Change Actions and Policies” starting July 26, 2025. This phase follows successful implementation of the first stage and focuses on deepening the involvement of women with disabilities in climate resilience efforts across Mzuzu District. All activities under this phase are aligned with Objective 2 of the project: "To increase involvement of women with disabilities in climate change actions by 70% in Mzuzu District within two years." Key activities in Phase Two include: Community climate leadership training for women with disabilities Stakeholder dialogue sessions with local government and disaster response bodies Advocacy for inclusive budgeting in local climate programs Distribution of assistive tools to support participation in environmental actions The project is generously supported by the Disability Rights Fund (DRF) and implemented by MZUDO in collaboration with local stakeholders including Mzuzu City Council, MACODA, and grassroots Disabled Persons’ Organizations (DPOs). “We are excited to build on the momentum of Phase One. This next phase gives us the opportunity to move from awareness to tangible participation and representation,” said Joyce Sichali, Executive Director of MZUDO.
